FrSky X20-Pro joystick shows no activity on M1 MAC

Hi, I am trying out Heli-X 11 but can't get the controls working. I have an M1 MacBook Air running the latest MacOS and Java. I use my X20-Pro as controller. In Heli-X, the controller is recognised as it complains there is no controller when it's unplugged, but I do't get any inputs. The bars are all in the centre and switches are grey.

I use another app that tests joysticks and I can see all axis moving there.
