Auto zoom doesn't work: 9.0.2229 Linux

Post by Grant_Edwards »

I downloaded and installed v9 yesterday, and everything seems to work as expected except for auto zoom.

Auto zoom is completely non-functional.

There's no noticeable change when turning it on/off, adjusting the zoom factor or adjusting reference distance.

Switching back to v8, auto zoom works as expected.

I cannot see any problems. Please report your camera settings...

After more observation/experiments, the auto zoom isn't completely non-working. I see two different behaviors in 9.0.2229. I don't know whether specific settings cause behavior 1 vs 2 below.
  1. When the plane gets to a certain distance, the camera zooms in for about a half second then stops and stays at fixed focal length as the plane continues to get farther away and visually smaller. If the plane gets close again, the camera will zoom out to the original focal length.
  2. When the plane gets to a certain distance, the camera zooms in for about a half second then snaps back to the original focal length and stays there forever.
In v8, once the plane gets to a certain distance, the camera zooms and will continue to gradually zoom in as the plane gets farther and farther away. As the plane gets closer, the camera will continually and gradually zoom out.

Perhaps this change in behavior intentional?

Yep. I should have figured that out myself. I didn't remember ever changing them in V8, so didn't even look at them.
