Vision

Our vision is the realization of a flight simulator for R/C helicopters with the following features:

• A simulation engine, which is the best possible which can be realized on a PC.
• A flight simulator which works on different operating systems.
• Graphics, so that it is fun to fly with this simulator.
• A simulation system which can be connected to external control systems, so that the development of autonomous helicopters can be supported.
• A flight simulator which can be used by several users via the internet.
• A flight simulator which is continuosly developed by an active community.
• A flight simulator which makes so much fun that many scenes and models will be constructed for HELI-X.

It is planned to publish the first verison of HELI-X in the frist weeks of 2008. These features are already implemented:

• Fotorealistic Scenes
• Different helicopter models
• Simulation engine with the following properties:
  • Realistic flight physics
  • Dynamics of the Bell-Hiller blades
  • Dynamic non-local inflow modell
  • Dynamic of the gyro (with/without heading-hold)
  • Realistic contacts with the ground
  • Dynamic behavior of the engine
  • Wind models
• Multiplayer possibility via the internet
• Models with more than 50 parameters
• USB Joysticks
• Realistic sound, dependent on the number of revolutions, distance to the heli, and the velocity
